Learn from author Pam Houston
Explore the connection between the Alaskan wilderness, healing, and self with generative writing exercises led by Pam Houston. Pam Houston is the author of the short story collection Cowboys Are My Weakness and the memoir Deep Creek: Finding Hope In The High Country, as well as six other books of fiction and nonfiction. She teaches creative writing at UC Davis and the Institute of American Indian Arts, and is the cofounder and creative director of the literary nonprofit Writing By Writers and fiction editor at the environmental arts journal Terrain.org. Her most recent book, Without Exception: Reclaiming Abortion, Personhood and Freedom, was published by Torrey House Press in September 2024.

Author Pam Houston will lead generative writing exercises. Professional musher Amanda Otto will teach you how to drive your own team of Alaskan huskies. You will learn evidence-based therapeutic skills and have the opportunity to experience trauma-conscious yoga. Enjoy the cozy Alaskan lifestyle with like-minded people just minutes from Denali National Park. Our evening activities may include: “Tales from the Trail” with 4-time Iditarod champion Jeff King and Iditarod veteran Amanda Otto; time to bond with and learn more about your dog team; the chance to see the Northern Lights and wildlife; as well as games, campfires, and more.
